The Next New Thing

In my opinion, what I hope is the next new thing in new media is that law enforcement will be able to track down criminals using social media. Whenever someone who is warranted for arrest does anything on the internet, law enforcement will know about it, it will assist them being trackd down and arrested.

  1. I like this idea a lot! I do not like how people commit crimes but get away with it. I read an article where a social media site that allowed users in the same neighborhood were able to post what they have been hearing or seeing throughout the neighborhood which led police to track down that their was a house where people were selling drugs. By being able to hide their identity was a good thing because it was not risky for them to speak. I think that because technology is and will continue to become advanced, this should definitely happen. By having law enforcement to track down criminals using social media would make the world a safer place for current and future generations.

  2. Hi Samantha. I like this idea, but privacy issues may be a problem. Unless there is a way to have a social media platform solely for law enforcement officials, I do not think this would be a feasible idea. If the issues with privacy and confidentiality is solved, I really do believe that this method of tracking down criminals on social media platforms would be efficient.

  3. I agree with you my friend. Too many criminals are lurking behind computer screens sucking energy from the anonymity that the internet provides. Some people are just to unethical. I recently started hearing about internet Trolls and how they terrorize teenagers and young adults on social media sites, leading to a number of suicides. I hope technology does come to a place where these problem can be easily resolved.
